Various Student Services
As Mallinckrodt Center's popularity and student traffic in and through the center increased, the building increased its student services to include dining, social, and business services. In 2008, Hilltop Bakery served as a highly-frequented spot due to its long hours, before Subway was introduced into the Mallinckrodt space. Pictured is Peter H. Zimmerman's, an architect, sketch of a potential design for a larger, more sociable dining area on Mallinckrodt's first floor, once again demonstrating Malliinckrodt's longstanding history as a social space facilitated through a variety of student services.
Mallinckrodt also continues to serve as a central hub on campus, housing the university's many businesses, like the FedEx Office, the Campus Bookstore, and Bank of America. These necessary services increase the building's student utility, and contribute to Mallinckrodt's design as the multipurpose, social center of the Danforth Campus.
